ModCloth Swimsuit Review: Part 2

I’m still impatiently waiting for pool season in Pittsburgh. I took some photos to help you in your quest for that perfect suit. My last post unfortunately didn’t include a side or behind angle of my body (purely accidental). I feel showcasing the body in various angles is super important and I want us all begin to make peace with our bodies from each vantage point.  My figure isn’t just what you see in photos taken from straight-on. I also have a gut and a butt and this is important to spell out when I am discussing how an item fits. Plus it is powerful for women/femmes to be comfortable in their skin and I want to continue to elaborate on that, but I will save that for a next post as I’m in the middle of packing my carry-on for L.A. this weekend! In the meantime, I hope my review of two new swimsuits will help you in your quest for the perfect suit.

ModCloth sent me eight swimsuits of my choice to wear this summer. so I’m going to review two of them this week in my three part installment series.  You can find my first one here where I share my measurements and my last one here. I also tried on a few sizes of each swimsuit to test for the best fit and I will share that with you too.

The first swimsuit this week: IMG_7510

What am I wearing? The Waterfront Flaunt in Nature two-piece from Modcloth. This is from ModCloth’s own High Dive Collection. It is available in sizes XS – 4X.  I am wearing a 1X in the top and a 2X on the bottom.

The bikini top:  The 1X fit perfectly! The top band and straps are adjustable.  I am wearing the band on the tightest adjustment, so if your rib cage is a bit bigger than mine this size would work too. The top has fantastic support and has optional removable foam cups.  The swimsuit has multiple strap options: halter, shoulder straps, both, or strapless! I find shoulder straps most comfortable for me.

The bottoms: I typically wear a 1X in bottoms in the Waterfront Flaunt collection. However I liked these better in a 2X as I found the material to be a tad less stretchy. I could certainly have sized down though.

Why did I choose this suit? Because I adore this print! I also love the color with my pink hair. I am pretty sure there is a photo of my mom as a teen in a similar swimsuit print from the 1970s where she is sunbathing in her parents’ yard. Her bikini was much skimpier though!

Impression: I feel like a woodland goddess.

The second swimsuit this week:

What am I wearing? The Beachy on The Eyes one-piece from Modcloth. It is available in sizes 4 – 22.  I am tall with a long torso so I while I was hoping this gem would fit, I wasn’t betting on it! But it does! This is because the straps are adjustable and the suit is stretchy.

Sizing: I am wearing a size 16. If it weren’t for my height, I could have easily worn a size smaller.

Why did I choose this suit? Many one-piece suits hint at vintage styling. This suit has attention to detail! I love the teal color with the white piping. It looks genuinely vintage (minus that thick material that many vintage suits are made from).

Impression: I am over the moon! For many years I felt like I had to wear two-pieces because of my height and long torso situation.

Last week I gave an in detail review of The Waterfront Flaunt in Fans two piece from ModCloth. Click here read the review.

Pictured below are images from the ModCloth website of some of the other swimsuits I chose. I will photograph each one and post images and reviews. Including how I found one-pieces that accommodate my long torso!
